Learning how to play the drums can seem intimidating at first. But once you learn the basics and foundations of drumming, the rest is open entirely to your own creativity.

Playing the drums is a rewarding, yet expensive, hobby that I find to be a great stress reliever. If you’re ready to take your drumming to the next level, here are a few lessons that build upon the previous exercises and basics that I’ve shown you.

Intermediate-Advanced Drum Lessons

I would like for the main focus of this page to be on intermediate to advanced level drumming skills. Before you tackle some of these, you will want to make sure you have the basics of how to play the drums down. You can check out my beginner lessons on how to play the drums here.

Flying Fingers:Save your arm and wrists with this blast beat technique. Pictures and video demonstrate how to use your fingers to play the drums.

Drum Solos:Learn the techniques necessary to build a great solo. Also find sheet music for snare solo.

Modifying Beats:One crucial component of soloing is covered in this lesson.

Gravity Blast Technique:Double your speed with this technique which utilizes the rim to play a double tap. Pictures and Video demonstration.

Heel Toe:Another double tap method for your feet. Learn how to play a double stroke on the bass drums using one fluid movement.

Swivel Technique:This lesson will teach you how to play more controlled sixteenth notes on the bass drums, while teaching you a way of increasing your speed.

Stick Spinning:You’ll look awesome while you play drums by learning how to spin your drumsticks. Unless of course, you drop your sticks.

Stick Tricks:Anyone can play drums, but now you can show off with these cool tricks.
