Sonor Drums

Sonor drums began in Germany in 1875 when Johaness Left began a workshop that built military drums and heads. By 1907 the Sonor name was trademarked and by 1925 the company became one of the largest with 145 employees. Their shells are known for how durable they are. Earlier drums were heavy and thus preferred by touring artists. During the ’80’s, the company began to lighten their shells to produce a lower tone that resonated more than their heavier counterparts.
