Cymbal Bag

Contents

A cymbal bag is a great way to store and protect your gear. Whether you are playing a lot of shows, traveling to practice, or just want to keep the dust bunnies away, there are many options for you to choose from. There are three main types of bags. I’ll cover each of them below and when you’re ready you can see a huge selection of Cymbal Bags here.

Standard Bags

The standard models simply hold one or more cymbals depending on the size of each piece. You can buy them in different sizes to accomodate your smaller or larger sized cymbal, but most come in a standard 22 or 24 inch size. The one shown below will hold up to 20 inches.

Zildjian Cymbal Bag

A higher end bag will add more padding.

Zildjian Super Padded Bag

Features super heavy-duty, extra-rugged construction all around. Reinforced, double strength stitching at all stress points. The bag main compartment contains three built-in cymbal dividers, and fits up to a 24′ cymbal. The zippered side pocket fits up to a 16′ cymbal while another zippered side pocket easily fits large stick bags. Other bag features include fully padded shoulder pad and 2′ wide adjustable strap for carrying comfort.

Backpacks

Paiste Pro Bag

The Paiste Pro bag allows you to carry your cymbals on your back while carrying your drums with your hands. This is a durable model that features backpack style shoulder straps as well as a single shoulder strap for comfortable carrying. Vinyl internal cymbal dividers separate pieces to minimize metal-to-metal contact. The rounded front pouch holds up to a 16 inch cymbal or other percussion accessories. The backpack case will fit a cymbal up to 22 inches.

A standard bag simply has carrying handles for transportation. If you load one of these up with two or three pieces, it is going to get quite heavy. You can take it easy on your posture with a backpack carrying case. This will also free up your hands for more stuff. If you hate transporting drums as much as I do, you know that the less trips you have to make from the car to the gig, the better.

On Stage CBT4200D DrumFire Deluxe Rolling Cymbal Bag Features Retractable trolley pull and wheels which allow for easy transportation. Use either the 2 top carry handles or backpack style straps. Tips

If you have more than one cymbal in a bag, lay a towel or piece of cloth between each cymbal so you don’t scratch the surfaces. A higher end bag should have cymbal dividers in them.

I recommend a backpack, or roller instead of a standard bag. They are easier to haul around and you won’t strain yourself.

Be sure to put some spare cymbal parts in the case with your cymbals. Most packs have special pouches where you can store extra felts, metal rings, tubes, drum keys, and the most important tool…duct tape.
