Drum Cymbal Bags
Drum cymbal bags are an essential piece of equipment if you do a lot of traveling with your drum set. I have seen drummers show up to a gig and unload their stands with the cymbals attached. I don’t understand why any drummer would transport their cymbals while they are on the stand. One small bump or fast brake and those cymbals are going to fall over and probably crack.
As much money as cymbals cost, you’d think they would want to protect them a little better. Not only do they keep them safer, but it also makes hauling them indoors much easier. There are plenty of drum cymbal bags and designs to choose from below. You can also learn more about Choosing Cymbals here, or check out the wide selection of Cymbals available.
Zildjian Deluxe Cymbal Bag 22 Inch
What To Look For In A Bag.
I would like to cover a few things that are pretty much common sense, but are sometimes overlooked. First off, be sure your largest cymbal will fit in the bag. A 22 inch bag does you no good if you can only get your 13 inch hats and a couple crash cymbals into it while your 24 inch ride gets left out. Also, make sure that the bag has dividers inside to keep the cymbals from scratching each other. Most of them on the market have these, but some economy models do not. You can also place towels in between them if you need to, but this can become a hassle. It’s just easier if the dividers are already there. Finally, try to find a bag that has a zippered pouch, the more the better. These are great for storing extra felts, sleeves and drum keys. I place my small 6 inch Zil-Bel inside one of the accessory pouches.
