Used Drum Sets

Most people already know you can find used drum sets online from sites like Ebay and Craigslist.  But for those drummers looking for a great deal, you may want to try another route.

Large sites like Guitar Center have tons of used equipment to choose from.  You can also trade in your old gear and receive credit towards a new drum set.  The drumsets are inspected so you know they are in good shape.

That’s how I got my current drum set.  I traded in my first set of drums and got about $250 towards my new kit.  They have a great trade-in program and I would highly recommend it.

If you don’t have anything to trade, you can still get a good deal on their used sets.

Of course, one problem with buying used sets is that the previous owner has often left their mark as in the picture above.  Luckily, the drumset above can be made like new with a new bass drum head.  See my lesson on tuning drums to learn how to change out heads.

You can find great sets from hot brands like the OCDP Tribal Orange kit above.  People will often trade in old drums that they no longer use, often unaware of just what they have and how valuable it actually is.  If you’re lucky, you can pick up a set of Vintage Ludwig Drums from a pawn shop or auction.

Buying used is the only way for some collector’s and die hard fans to get their hands on discontinued merchandise like this set above from Rogers Drums.
