The snare drum lessons are going to cover a wide range of topics for all levels of musicians–from beginners with no knowledge of drumming to advanced drummers looking to improve their technique.

Many beginner drummers want to sit behind the drum set and start wailing away. We’ve all seen that guy in the music store that sits down behind the $2,000 drum set and starts pounding away.

Don’t be that guy. Drum sets are expensive and drummers cringe when they see noobs beating them to death. Louder doesn’t mean better!

While a handful of musicians can start out behind an entire kit, it’s important that you learn the basic foundations of drumming by focusing your attention on the snare.

These lessons are essential in learning how to play the drums. Take your time going through them. Learn them well. Practicing isn’t fun, but I can tell you that learning the rudiments will open up a whole new level of drumming once you get behind the set.

Snare Drum Kits

When I started playing drums back in grade school, it was on a beginner’s kit that came with the snare, stand, sticks and a carrying case. I would recommend these for any school-aged student wanting to learn how to play drums.

For others I would pass the beginner kits and look at higher-end snare drums that will translate nicely into a full drum set. Beginner kits are nice, but the snares lack some of the fullness and bite that you would want behind a drum set.
