Ratamacue

The ratamacue is one of many snare drum rudiments that are named after the sound that they make. This drum rudiment looks confusing at first, but breaking it down into it’s various components may help.

There are three basic parts to the rudiment’s makeup. They include a drag, a triplet and a quarter note. Simple enough right? If you’re having difficulty with this drum rudiment, check out the single stroke four rudiment. It’s basically the same thing, but without the drag.

Exercise time. You can use the snare drum exercises below to get started. Or, get your metronome and simply play this rudiment over and over. It’s one of those tricky rudiments, but once you build up your speed, it’s great for working into your fills. Want tips on getting the most out of your Drum Practice.
