African Drum Music

African drum music is becoming more and more popular as drumming circles continue to grow across college campuses and within larger communities. There are many different Types of Drums that fit into this category, but probably the most popular African drum is the Djembe.

Below are a few albums and songs that you can download that feature African drums. If you are interested in learning how to play the djembe, be sure to check out the Djembe drum lessons page for a few beginning video lessons on how to play the djembe. I’m hoping to put up some of my own videos soon, but I’m still waiting to get a new drum head for my djembe. In the meantime, you can get started on the basics of djembe drumming as shown by some fellow youtubers. You can also find some instructional books and dvds on the drum lessons page that cover the djembe in more depth than a youtube video can.
